Neurodiversity

What is Neurodiversity: Neurodiversity is a movement that emphasizes neurological differences and aims to honor those differences as a normal aspect of human variation. The movement sees individuals coping with special needs diagnoses as having a unique way of thinking and experiencing the world.

Neurodiversity (Special Needs) Coaching focuses on a client’s specific strengths, values, and goals to help them realize their full potential. It is centered around finding practical solutions to difficulties as well as recognizing and growing personal strengths. Specialized coaching is also about working with stress levels, knowing how to alter habits, and identifying long term goals while setting smaller, attainable steps to reach those goals.

Coaching for Individuals with Neurodiversity

Life is more challenging with a disability. If you have, or suspect you may have, a learning disability (LD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Tourette’s Syndrome, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Sensory Processing Disorder, Down’s Syndrome, Dyslexia, etc., you have already learned to make your own accommodations to get through normalized life. Coaching will help you draw on your successes to help remind you that you have the resilience and grit to reach your desired outcome.

Coaching for Parents/Supporters/Families of Individuals with Neurodiversity

One in six families in the United States have a child who has been diagnosed with neurodiversity (special needs). No matter what the developmental disability, the lives of these families are likely to be affected. Parents of children with neurodiversity (special needs) may experience relationship distress. A family’s financial situations can also change dramatically. Relationships with siblings, relatives, and friends of the child can become strained as the focus shifts to the child who has neurodiversity (special needs). Often parents lose track of their personal goals as they commit their lives to caring for a child with special needs/neurodiversity.
